the-tour-rider

Time is money. Money is precious. Each day seems to get away from you faster then the last. You have boutique music festivals to pretend to know about. You have homemade Christmas decorations to be crafting. You have doomsday planning to do since Trump was elected as the next U.S president. You have foreign foods to Google so you can make The Urban List’s articles feel like old news. We know how full your schedule is, that’s why we at AAA want to save you some time with The Tour Rider!

Contained in this top-secret dossier we have the best tour announcements that come across our editorial desk (and even a few that we had to go searching for), so read up if you want to show up! The Tour Rider is published bi-weekly.

In this edition of The Tour Rider: Shady Cottage Music & Leisure Festival, St Kilda Festival, Balance and Composure, Melbourne Ska Orchestra, Illy, Old Mate’s Block Party, and Tegan And Sara.

Old Mate’s Block Party Returns In 2017 With Rad Local Lineup

old-mates-block-party-2017-press-shot

After selling out in its debut year, we welcome back Old Mate’s Block Party lineup for 2017 with open arms. Proving itself last year as an exciting addition to the cultural calendar, the Sydney one-day mini-festival, created by the brains running voodoo rock’n’roll band The Lockhearts, is rising alongside its bountiful lineup of local up-and-coming artists.

The festival includes such luminaries as grunge rockers The Stiffys, Kvlts Of Vice, and Twin Fires – just to name a few! If that wasn’t enough, the grassroots bash has got us weak at the knees following confirmation that the much-loved Newtown’s Bloodwood food vendor will be the event’s official food vendor once again!

Old Mate’s Block Party will take place at the Factory Floor on Saturday 28th January. Check out the full lineup and ticketing info below!

By all accounts, Melbourne’s hip hop king Illy has had a humungous year! Not only has he dropped two chart-topping hit singles Catch 22 and Papercuts to forerun his latest record ‘Two Degrees’, but has had some epic collaborations, and nabbed himself six ARIA nominations as well.

The hip hop champ has announced he’ll be continuing his massive streak into the new year, with a five-date tour set in stone for March and April, with hip hop risers Spit Syndicate coming along for the ride! Tickets are available Friday, unless you’re with Telstra Thanks in which case you should already be on it!

Melbourne Ska Orchestra Announce ‘SKA-BQ’ Tour

mso-dec-16

Melbourne Ska Orchestra may have only just released their second album ‘Sierra-Kilo-Alpha’, to nationwide critical acclaim, but they’re back in the saddle to release album number three! The new release, entitled ‘Saturn Return’, features 22 tracks that were actually recorded for the ARIA Award-winning ‘Sierra-Kilo-Alpha’ but didn’t quite make the cut. ‘Saturn Return’ looks to expand further into the global reggae and big band sound the band are loved for, and if the success of its predecessor is anything to go by, ska fans are in for a treat!

The announcement of the new record comes alongside another tour too, which will see the group of more than 30 members take on the cleverly named ‘SKA-BQ Tour’ with stops in Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Sydney!
