Champ’s 10 Steps To Surviving GD FRNDS’ October Showcase

Back in June, indie-rock darlings Borneo along with Von Villains, Yes Sir Noceur, and Radolescent raised the Shark Bar’s roof well-and-truly into the stratosphere for GD FRNDS’s first instalment in their showcase series.

Well, the time has come again. The wait, it’s finally over. GD FRNDS are super proud to announce the second instalment in their showcase series once again at the Shark Bar! Round two will be headlined by Byron Bay surf-rockers Waxhead (their only Gold Coast show for 2016) along with AAA favs IVEY, highly sought after local duo Idiio, and after-hours bangers from the GD FRNDS DJs.

With just a few days between you and having a ripper of a Saturday night, here’s 10 things GD FRNDS’ co-founder Champ reckons you should know before rocking up to the Shark Bar!

1 – Mark Whitney, sing with me!

The debut GD FRNDS showcase, headlined by Borneo back in June, got pretty rowdy with a decent portion of the crowd making their way onstage to have a boogie. Here’s hoping for a repeat of such events!

2 – GD FRNDS class of ‘16

The night’s roster is, in one way or another, one to be chronicled. Both Waxhead and IVEY will be rounding out the year with their final live sets, and Idiio are playing their first ever live show as a group!

3 – That wasn’t the wallet inspector…

Pack light ’cause GD FRNDS’ showcase is only $10. Yep, three bands (and GD FRNDS DJs) for only a tenner!

4 – The sea was angry that day, my friends

Watch “The Marine Biologist” episode of Seinfeld. No relation, it’s just quality viewing.

5 – Have you hugged your drummer today?

Quality advise to gentlemen behind the kits of the evening. Mitch (Waxhead), Matt (IVEY), and Scotty (Idiio) all go hard on the drums!

6 – Starring Mark from the famed Internet series of the same name

When Waxhead drop Alright simply let it all go as they massage the sore bunions of your feet and listen to all your troubles from your long day. No one out there should be feeling less than alright on this strange, third planet from the sun and Waxhead will not rest until each and everyone one of you out there is feeling alright. Alright? 

7 – Nothing but quality!

IVEY have proven their gain playing sold-out gig after sold-out gig this year. All Things Good, the newest single from the group, is sure to send some undies flying their way on stage.

8 – There’ll be no containing me…

When Idiio drop their latest track Holding Me Back you’ll catch me at the front barrier tearing my vocals chords a new one singing along to this year’s ultimate slow jammer.

9 – Come for the bands, stay for the party

There’ll be no Shy Ronnie’s in the audience on the night. The party kicks on until 2am, so dance the night away people!

10 – Ahh, freak out!

All these artists are currently hitting 10 home runs a night so best catch them in their prime for a fraction of the cost!
