Splendour Pre-Parties Announced, Playing Times Released

Splendour Logo

Splendour In The Grass 2016 is almost upon us and our excitement levels couldn’t be higher with the release of set times and the Brisbane and Byron Bay official pre-parties!

Secret Sound’s “legendary” pre-Splendour party at The Northern in Byron Bay this year will see sets by none other than The Avalanches, hectic rock duo The Kills, Perth psych-rockers Methyl Ethel, Harts, and a bangin’ DJ set from Melbourne duo Kllo. Tickets are extremely limited so if you’re staying in or around Byron Bay for Splendour get on this ASAP!

If you’re planning to head down to Splendour on the Friday or are (sadly) missing out on Splendour altogether then head to The Triffid! Tearing up the ex-airplane hanger will be Years & Years (y’know, the band behind King), Norwegian multi-instrumentalist Lido, Sydney producer Moonbase Commander, and former Yatch Club DJ Twinsy.

Splendour 2016 Brisbane Party

For all those lucky enough to be experiencing any or the full three days of Splendour In The Grass 2016, the festival has also released the full day-by-day timetables. Some of the AAA team reckon there’s not too many clashes, but as always you’re not going to be able to catch every act you’ve got your heart set on.

Find your spot early in the Amphitheatre on Friday to catch sets from DMA’s, The 1975, Violent Soho, The Avalanches, and The Strokes, who all kind of clash with what are to be some sweet sets from Hermitude, Hayden James, Motez, World Champion, ILLY, and Roland Tings.

The Cure will be closing the Amphitheatre on Saturday with a THREE HOUR set, so we reckon you should sneak off to catch Matt Corby, James Vincent McMorrow, or LDRU during the British legends’ slower material. It’s also clash-central early on Saturday morning with plenty of the best new and rising bands spread across the main stages.

Sorting out who your squad will be catching on Sunday will also cause many a headache – how the heck do you choose between Flume, Jake Bugg, and Sigur Ros to finish your 2016 Splendour on??? At least Sunday features a few more slower-paced artists, so make sure you go hard (but not too hard) over the first two days…
