Foreign Fields Music Video feat. New York Ballet School + ‘Take Cover’ Album Details

Nashville electronic-folk duo Foreign Fields have just released some juicy details about their highly anticipated new album, ‘Take Cover’. Set to be released in late October, the 12-track album will be matched with a collection of companion videos to mirror the cinematic nature of the album. Inspired by the five stages of grief, the video series will continue to roll out ahead of the album’s release in just over a fortnight.

Unlike their older work, Foreign Fields have decided to steer away from their luxurious signature sound and have taken a more minimalistic approach.

“Making the new record ‘Take Cover’ marked a shift in our approach with Foreign Fields. While our inspiration had derived heavily in the past from broad natural landscapes and lush dreamy moments this material felt more insular, more direct. We moved our focus away from big, lavish tones into a tighter, more percussive, more constrained sound,” said the band.

The album’s lead single I Killed You In The Morning sets the tone of the album while letting fans know what to expect with its calm tone, sombre vocals, and a mix of electronic and percussive beats.

The pairs’ latest single I picks up the tempo with a rich infusion of pop and sharp beats. Foreign Fields recently released the creative music video for I which features flawless contemporary dance performances by students from the New York Ballet School.

Directed by Emmy Award winner Gregory Horoupian and choreographed by Indie Ballet Collaborative founder Ariel Asch, the fluidity of the dancers featured in the video match the smooth vocals of Foreign Fields perfectly while following the minimalistic feel with neutral colour tones.

Who are Foreign Fields you ask? Comprised of Brian Holl and Eric Hillman, the audio/visual creatives have produced some great music since their beginnings in 2011, including their 2012 album ‘Anywhere But Where I am’ and their more recent ‘What I Kept In Hiding’. Influenced by the likes of Radiohead, Flying Lotus, Bon Iver, and Bjork, their signature sound showcases the versatility of the duo’s musical talents.
