Wrap Up: When Kanye Goes Full Kanye

Kanye West

In an album rollout that seems to be littered with misguided Twitter adventures, Kanye has caused even more controversy this morning with a tweet that declared Bill Cosby’s innocence. Unless you have been living under a rock since ‘The College Dropout’, you should know this is not the first time Kanye has courted controversy, but just in case we’ve recapped some of his most outrageous moments over the years in no particular order.

Kanye Goes In On Wiz Khalifa on Twitter

After Wiz sent out some tweets criticising one of the many titles of Kanye’s upcoming album, Yeezy did not take it lightly and gloriously went after him on Twitter. During the bizarre rant Kanye claimed to own Khalifa’s child and gifted us with #Wizwearscoolpants. At the end of the day all parties put the matter behind them, but it will forever remain the first great Twitter beef of 2016.

Kanye Crashes Taylor Swift’s Acceptance Speech

Perhaps Kanye’s most notorious moment to date was his unexpected appearance during Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech for Best Female Video at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs). Kanye interrupted Swift’s speech to declare that Beyoncé, who had been nominated for Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It), had “one of the best videos of all time’’. But let’s be real, he was not wrong with this one…

Kanye Gets Political at the VMAs

Continuing his award show antics, last year while accepting the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, Kanye announced he would be running for the U.S Presidency in 2020 in a mammoth 13-minute speech. If elected he promises to give out free Yeezys (sneakers), so I’m going to hope this does actually happen and get my green card sorted out as soon as possible.

Kanye vs George Bush

During a live TV fundraiser for victims of Hurricane Katrina, Kanye decided to go off script and condemn the media’s treatment of black victims while a very shocked Mike Myers stood next to him. Before being cut off by producers Kanye declared ‘’George Bush doesn’t care about black people’’. Myers has since said he was proud to have witnessed the outburst because Kanye was just speaking the truth.
