Southbound Festival Confirms Best Lineup of Summer 2016
We’re not kidding, Southbound Festival’s 2016 lineup is huge! There will be more acts gracing the Western Australian grounds than the festival has ever seen in its 11-year history, and we’re not just talking about numbers…
We’re talking acts like British rockers Catfish and The Bottlemen, who haven’t announced an Aussie show since their cancelled 2015 Splendour In The Grass appearance. Joining them on the list are other internationals ZHU, Phantogram, Ladyhawke, Hudson Mohawke, and Hot Chip. But wait there’s more…
The Aussie listings are chockers, we’ll be seeing psychedelic rascals The Bennies, Sticky Fingers, The Cat Empire, Montaigne, The Smith Street Band, Boo Seeka, SAFIA, Paces (will we get another appearance of Guy Sebastian), Nina Las Vegas, and Canberra’s own banger-sculptors Peking Duk.
We’re still going, as there’s a bunch of quality WA natives including the lovingly awkward/super attractive San Cisco and Tired Lion, who’ll be joining the original 2016 headliner Hermitude.
Get this, there’s still more to be announced!
There were some doubts following the bushfire-sparked cancellation of the event at the beginning of 2016, but the festival has come back strong. The “new” Southbound Festival will run from the 27th to the 29th of December…hopefully early enough in the WA summer to dodge most potential bushfires.
As Falls Music & Arts Festival is traditionally held along the East Coast post-Christmas/Happy New Year period, let’s hope there’s plenty of crossover in acts when the 2016 Falls lineup is announced within the next few months!
